Tightly clustered bulbs stay quite low; each bulb produces a few thick, tongue shaped, 8-12 inch leaves. In fall brushes of pure white blossoms with contrasting yellow anthers appear, lasting for several weeks. A coastal climate also seems to encourage scattered off-season bloom. Light shade, rich soil, moderate watering during growth and bloom, very little in winter. Reputedly hardy to just below freezing, though ours recovered after a bout of 20 degrees F.
