One of the larger selections of Japanese barberry, this sturdy shrub should reach 6 feet or more, with arching, intricately branched trunks. The leaves are nearly round, up to 3/4 of an inch long, painted deep purple with a narrow yellow rim. Clusters of small yellow flowers dot the branches in summer. Fall brings bright red tones to the leaves. Prospers in full sun or light shade and most soils, with moderate to occasional watering when established.
