Hybrid blue curls makes a 3-5 foot rounded shrub with narrow dark green lightly aromatic leaves and showy spikes of purple "blue curl" flowers, with curved long stamens extending from each blossom. Flowering is typically from late spring to fall when planted in sun with moderate to occasional watering. Plants need protection from hard frost. This compact shrub is a hybrid of Trichostema lanatum--the California blue curls--and the dusty rose flowered T. purpusii from Mexico; the cross was made by Patrick Worley at Suncrest Nurseries.
