Low penstemon from woodlands and open forests of California and Oregon has low blue-green leaves, more narrow than those of the typical species azureus. Flowering stems rise in late spring, displaying bright blue flowers that open from yellow buds. This is a great plant for open sites and banks, prospering in sunny sites with well drained soil and moderate to occasional watering.
