This shrub is one of the best introductions by the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden. It is a round shrub or small tree of 8-12 feet (or more?) with beautifully textured, shiny leaves. Masses of bright blue flowers contrast with white bud-scales to give a frosted appearance. It is relatively tolerant of heavy soils and routine watering.
