Weigelas are shrubs with paired, pointed-oval, rough-textured leaves, up to 4 inches long, and generous crops of bell shaped flowers in summer. The plants tend to look a bit ragged after blooming, though in our climate they can be pruned frequently for fresh waves of lusher growth and sometimes, even further waves of bloom. Weigela 'Abel Carriere' is a lush, leafy plant, which is exceptionally floriferous. It produces large clusters of bright pink flowers most of the summer. This is an easily grown shrub, thriving in sun and most soils, with moderate watering.
