Helleborus x sternii plants have broadly parted leaves, generally darker and greyer (or bluer) than those of one of its parents, H. argutifolius. All vegetative parts of the plants, particularly the undersides of the leaves, are tinged with red or purple. 'Silver Dollar' is a seed strain, and produces dark grey leaves with jagged edges. Pale yellow flowers are pink in bud. Part shade, reasonably well drained soil, and moderate watering are preferable. Plants will tolerate some drought when established. Hardy to 10 degrees F. or less.
